God Has been speaking to me this one word, Surrender.

What does it mean to surrender? It means to let go of control. For many of us that’s a scary thought. We like to be in control of things by nature.

I never thought of myself as a control freak, however I definitely am a fixer. Due to the nature of my job, I've always been programmed to fix things. If a patient has an issue, I want to fix it. ASAP. I've tried to apply that to my own life too. If I see a problem I want to know how I can fix it. If someone I care for is having an issue in their lives, I want to help.

In my life, completely letting go of control has been something I've struggled with.

It's not that it's wrong to be independent and take initiative, however sometimes when we take matters into our own hands, its like we're trying to take it out of God's hands. Believe me when I tell you, God's plan is better than yours. It is better to have His hand in a situation because He can do above and beyond anything we could ask or think. Often times when we put situations in our own hands we end up having to work twice as hard. When we choose our own path, it's often filled with stress, heartache, turmoil, and destruction.

This brings to mind Proverbs 14:12, There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

I’m going to be completely transparent for a moment. Something that I have thought about for the last few years is egg freezing. I will be 31 years old in a few weeks. When I was young and naive, I planned out my life and thought that I would at least be thinking about kids by now. Currently, I’m nowhere near having kids. I have two choices in this situation, I could go on and complete the procedure to freeze my eggs, or I could trust God wholeheartedly that if he placed the desire in me to have children, he will bring it to completion in His own timing.

Why do we raise our hands in worship? It's a sign of surrender to God. We are saying, God we surrender all to you. Our life, our relationships, our finances, we give it all to you.

God offers us perfect peace by surrendering completely to Him. One of my favorite verses is proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and He will direct your paths.

A lot of times, people say they trust God with everything but they don’t. They may trust God when it comes to some things, then try to take control of other things. It really is a control issue. Control is often rooted in fear. What does the Bible teach us about fear? God has not given us a spirit of fear but of POWER, love, and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

Whatever you are fearful of, I wholeheartedly urge you to completely surrender it to Him. That’s the only way you will be able to have peace in the situation. Whatever it may be (spouse, child, job, house), if it is in God’s will, it will come to pass in HIS time.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 states that He will make everything beautiful in His time.

HIS time not mine. HIS will not mine. HIS plans not mine.

Whenever you become fearful and try to take control, just remember that HIS plans and timing is much better than ours. He is faithful and He will fulfill His promises to you.
